A very successful year at Grinmorgan Farm
This is the story of the Grinmorgan Farm in Fockbek, a little town in northern Germany
between
Flensburg and Kiel .It started in 1998 with the purchase of Glenmorgan Leroy Brown,
who became the foundation breeding stallion for the farm. Manfred Maas, owner of
Grinmorgan Farm, grew up with horses; his father is a very successful breeder of
Shetland ponies.

But Manfred was looking for something different, something very special -
The Morgan Horse.
He found the horse of his dreams while visiting the Glenmorgan Farm of Susen Fischer,
near Hamburg.
Mrs. Fischer is the owner of the famous breeding stallion Glamorgan Damien
(Glamorgan Noah x Glamorgan Augusta), a very typey and successful seal brown
Morgan Horse stallion. Damien was one of the first Morgan Horses imported to Germany
and was the first Morgan stallion ever, who has been tested and proven in Germany.
Manfred Maas decided to buy Glenmorgan Leroy Brown, the second foal of the
successful cross of Glamorgan Damien and Glamorgan Faline (Glamorgan Legend x
Glamorgan Finesse). And time showed his decision was right.
After being broken to ride by Manfred Maas` daughters Janet and Jessica, who both are
successful riders, Leroy entered lots of competitions in dressage, jumping and cross
country. At the moment, he is the most successful sport Morgan in Germany.

Hinrich Romeike, the winner of the cross country gold medal at the Olympic Games at
Peking in the summer of 2008, is a member of the same riding club as Janet and Jessica.
He has known Leroy since he is a youngster, is always impressed with his ability and his
extraordinary movement. In 2000, Leroy has been stallion tested like his father
Glamorgan Damien and his older full brother Glenmorgan Nyx Surprise, and the result
again was impressing- so today he is one of only three still living fully approved Morgan
Horse stallions in Germany.

After buying the mare Vonavet Smiley (by Vonavet Tribute), Manfred started to
use Leroy for breeding, too. Smiley proved her excellent character as a trail horse before
becoming a broodmare.
Leroy and Smiley produced seven typey sport Morgan Horses until now, with two of
their fillies having
their first foals this year. The first foal of Leroy and Smiley, Grinmorgan Jackie Brown,
had a little colt in July this year by Integritys Sherman Allen, the first pure bred Lippitt
stallion in Europe. This little boy is a real eye catcher!
This year has been a successful year for the Grinmorgan Farm. Not only in the show ring
but also with showing at the the biggest horse trading fair in northern
Germany, the Hansepferd Hamburg in April 2008 with more than 50 000 visitors within
three days. Glenmorgan Leroy Brown was the first Morgan Horse ever to be shown at the
Hansepferd and especially the riding classes thrilled the audience .Most of the people
wondered what kind of horse this 15.3 hh dark brown stallion is, and congratulated
Manfred for having such a beautiful, nice and breathtaking moving horse. Leroy was
voted by the 50 000 visitors to be the fifth most popular horse out of 355 horses at the
Hansepferd.
In August, this years two foals of the Grinmorgan Farm, Grinmorgan Infinity (
Grinmorgan Tiney Dancer x Grinmorgan Pennylane) and Grinmorgan Ray Tano (
Glenmorgan Leroy Brown x Vonavet Smiley) went to the first event in their young
lives, the branding. The judges of the “ Schleswig-Holsteinische Pferdestammbuch”, the
studbook all of Manfreds horses are registered with, premiered both foals like all of
their elder brothers and sisters before. Ray Tano was judged so good he had to come
back to the foal’s championship of the studbook on August 17/18.
At this championship all foals will be noted from 1 to 10 for movement and type. Ray
Tano won his class with an unbelievable 9 for type at the championship.

So let’s see how the story of Grinmorgan Farm will keep on next year. Congratulations
and best wishes to Manfred Maas and his Morgan Horses!
Manfred has stock for sale from foals to ridden Horses and offers live cover to Leroy.
